The vibe check: ChatGPT Agent Mode + coworking research

#199: Can ChatGPT's Agent Mode recommend a coworking space that passes the vibe check?

Hi Reader,

I've been toying with ChatGPT’s Agent Mode, and I wanted to see if it could recommend a coworking space—not just based on specs, but based on community, energy, and vibe.

Why?

People aren’t just looking for a desk, chair, and walls when shopping for a coworking space. They’re looking for a place they want to spend time + be surrounded by people they like, can learn from, collaborate with, or grow alongside.

That part matters just as much as the specs, location, amenities, and pricing—if not more.

So, I gave Agent Mode a challenging, multifaceted prompt with subjective + objective parameters and had it find me spaces in NYC (a market with A LOT of options to sift through).

The results were solid. But what stood out most was where it went looking for answers:

  • Blog posts (i.e., member spotlights and stories, community round-ups and reccos, etc.)
  • Reddit threads
  • Instagram tags
  • Google Street View and the Google Map Pack
  • 3rd-party reviews
  • Online sources where the spaces have been mentioned (i.e., other blogs, news publications, etc.)

It didn't just pull from the space's home and service pages. It scoured a variety of sources.

That’s where this gets interesting.

As more people use AI tools to research coworking spaces in a more in-depth way—and those tools pull from a multitude of places—your content needs to cover all your bases.

After all, if you're not sharing insights about the intangible elements of your space, how will these tools ever know about them?

It's not just about ranking on Google anymore. It’s about being understood, objectively and subjectively—by both people and the AI tools helping them research and make decisions.

So, if you’re a coworking operator thinking about your content strategy, consider this your nudge:

Yes, keep your pricing and features clear. Keep your product pages dialed in. Focus on SEO and all those good things.

But don’t stop there.

Invest in content that tells the full story—of your space, your members, and the experience of being there—for the AI tools and the people using them.

Think about your blog, your off-page SEO, your social media channels, and beyond.

IMO, this was already super important without AI search. But as people turn more toward AI for in-depth research, it's going to be vital that you send all the right signals.

And that means having a well-rounded, multifaceted online ecosystem.

This isn't a groundbreaking discovery, but I just wanted to share where my head's at looking forward, in case it helps you inform your content marketing decisions as well.

Have you seen any signs that AI is starting to shape how people search for your space? Or does this still feel a bit far off? Curious what others are noticing.

Hit reply and share your two cents!

Shout out to The Farm Soho, NeueHouse, and Industry City for popping up in my results. Notably, they're all doing awesome content.

By the way, sorry for the awful audio if you watched the video, but I didn't have time to re-record it. Onward and upward!

Talk soon.
